Irish Brigade ++ Action Front!!!!

I have completed my brigade ready for Adepticon with time to spare. That makes me very happy. For all of you tournament and weekend warrior gamers I am sure you are intimately familiar with staying up until 4am the night before the big event. Then it takes you a week to recover from all the work you put into your army and you don't touch a paint brush for 6 months. Yep, that's right then you are immediately behind on your next project only to repeat the same process over and over again.

Well, as I have gotten older and it became a little bit harder to recover from long weekends I bust my hump the week or two before the event so I can recover and enjoy my gaming weekend. So, with 4 days before our big American Civil War battle I have finished my contribution to the game including a handful of scenery.

Here are some pictures of the brigade in all its glory. Enjoy and if you are going to Adepticon be sure to come by the game and say 'helllo'.

  4. Hi, thank you for sharing your great work. This is very inspiring. I am just getting into building dioramas and I would like to ask for an advice. In the images, I have noticed that the base of the plastic figures is unnoticeable at all. I am wondering if you are cutting it off and gluing the soldiers directly to the terrain or you are using some technique to lay the terrain over the plastic figure base. If it is the second, can I please ask for your guidance how this is best done. Many thanks in advanced for your advice.

  5. Hi Arsovski, thanks for your comment.

    The models all remain on their pre-cast bases, but the terrain around them is built up. We all use a variety of materials, some use the pumice gel from Vallejo, others use a product called Apoxie Sculpt (a two-part epoxy putty). I found this post on our blog that shows how Rob Chandler's Confederates look after the Apoxie Sculpt has been applied, but before any texture or paint has been added to the bases. It's probably the best thing to look at in regards to how we did it.
